This Deputy has no qualms about flagging up her total commitment to the environment as being at least as important as rescuing Guernsey’s economy in today’s States debate. Yet again, putting the world’s climate before the immediacy of the Island’s needs. There has already been a significant downturn in carbon emissions across the globe and every likelihood that due to air travel and decline in tourism, that downward reduction will become fairly permanent. Guernsey has virtually no natural resources and relies on domestic and international business to survive. The focus MUST be on what Guernsey needs to do to retain some semblance of what used to be normal – focus on rescuing a paying economy for heaven’s sake.
